The Smart Cities /Smart Villages is an infrastructure, energy-efficient and green project based on integrated strategies and efficient use of the Information and Communications Technologies (ICT) to enhance the basic infrastructure of the three pilot municipalities. The concept is simple and consists of installing a sensor in each public utility in order to control its status. This sensor will transmit the status to a Computer/Server using a reliable network infrastructure. The status will be analysed by a Software running on this computer and based on its results an action will be taken. The algorithm will depend on each utility to control (Waste bin, TrafficLight, etc.).
The overall objective of the project is to promote the 3 municipalities of Durres, Vlora and Korca that provide core infrastructure and give a decent quality of life to its citizens, a clean and sustainable environment with the help of application of 'Smart' Solutions.
The WBIF has provided a €191,000 grant for the Feasibility Study, Cost-Benefit Analysis and Environmental and Social Impact Assessment study.
