European Commission President von der Leyen visits the Western Balkans
The President took the opportunity to shine the spotlight on significant investments through the WBIF
'The EU is the largest investor and most loyal partner for BiH. Through strategic support in key infrastructure projects in sectors such as energy, the environment, green growth, social inclusion, transport, digitalisation and innovation, the EU is demonstrating its commitment to BiH and our common European future.'
Since 2009, the WBIF has supported estimated investments of €6.7 billion in the public sector in Bosnia and Herzegovina.
The country has benefited from 82 grants worth over €1.1 billion in technical assistance and investment co-financing. The EU IPA grant support channelled through the WBIF accounts for €1,086 million and covers both technical assistance and investment works. Other donors have also contributed €18 million.
