WATSAN Programme in the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina

WATSAN Programme in the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina

Project Description

This project was launched in 2008 with the purpose to assist small and medium municipalities develop sustainable water and sanitation services, in accordance with the EU accession conditions. The benefits from the project include protecting public health and the environment from water pollution, maintaining a balanced development of water supply and sanitation as well as safeguarding the financial and operational viability of the water companies.

The WBIF has co-financed water and wastewater schemes and provided technical, financial and management support, alongside grants from the EU National IPA and Sida. Renewed assistance (€1.3 million) was granted in 2017 by the WBIF for the preparation of technical documentation and tender dossiers.

Unfortunately, no significant result regarding impacts on the environment has been achieved as no WWTP has yet been built.
