Republika Srpska (RS), Bosnia and Herzegovina, has a motorway network at various stages of development. The construction of sections of the motorway network is planned to be financed from different sources, and this increases the need of having a harmonized, efficient, and effective system of collecting tolls on the entire future motorway network.
The QBIF (EU) has provided a technical assistance grant for a study into the most appropriate options for the implementation of a tolling system in RS, taking account of the long-term motorway development programme. The study provided a strategy and an action plan for the implementation of such a system on three most developed motorway corridors in the Republic of Srpska: E661 Banja Luka-Gradiska (33Km); M16.1 Banja Luka - Doboj (76km); and E73 Doboj – Modrica, on corridor Vc (47km). It included a traffic forecast model; a review of tolling system options; an analysis on a multi-criteria basis; and a cost-benefit analysis of the selected recommendation.
