The November 2010 earthquake (5.4 Richter) which hit central parts of Serbia caused the loss of two lives; dozens of injuries and the destruction of several properties. Post-disaster balance showed 15,333 individual houses with varying degrees of damage, some 800 irreparably destroyed and around 1,800 with serious structural damages. 211 condominium buildings have been damaged citywide, 33 with major structural damages and 188 with less serious damages.
This project concerns the construction of adequate compensatory permanent housing for 360 families whose dwellings were severely damaged, through the redevelopment of an urban housing estate of 3.4 ha known as ‘Pic Mala.’ The new buildings will be built according to contemporary design, anti-seismic, energy efficiency, accessibility, and space-use regulations and norms.
The project is now at the construction stage.
