This investment concerned the construction of the first state prison in Bosnia and Herzegovina with an objective to support the development and upgrade of infrastructure in the social sector by creating additional inmate capacity needed for activities of the State Court.
WBIF assisted the Ministry of Justice (MoJ) in the preparation of an operational plan, feasibility report, preliminary designs, main and construction designs and procurement documentation based on European Prison Rules.
The development of the new prison facility primarily brings social benefits, as it provides adequate imprisonment and detainment facilities for male inmates. This investment also contributes to the BiH's legal approximation with the EU Acquis and international human rights standards in this area.
