WBIF technical assistance grant has financed the preparation of the feasibility study for the road upgrade between Brod na Drini (Foca) and Hum on the border with Montenegro. Together with the Montenegrin section of the Main Road from Scepan Polje to Pluzine, this would be the shortest connecting line between the two capitals: Sarajevo and Podgorica. It would be also the shortest line from Albania via Montenegro and BiH to Central Europe via Corridor Vc.
The study revealed potential benefits for Bosnia and Herzegovina, including daily traffic of 1,600 vehicles and 100 trucks, transportation of 4,000 passengers, annual savings of €6 million from vehicle operating costs, €5 million from travel time savings, €0.5 million from reduced traffic accidents and significant road maintenance savings. New traffic would also bring €1.5 million in economic benefits.
