Novi Sad, the second-largest city in Serbia, does not have a wastewater treatment plant (WWTP); collected wastewater is discharged untreated into the Danube River, representing the highest source of pollution of the Danube along the river section from the border with Hungary to Belgrade.
This WBIF TA grant has financed the preparation of a pre-feasibility study with conceptual design as the first phase of studies needed for the construction of the main wastewater treatment plant in the city of Novi Sad.
