Bar-Vrbnica is the main railway line of Montenegro’s rail network, carrying around 20% of all passenger volume and 60% of freight. The line was constructed as part of the railway corridor to Belgrade and opened to traffic in 1976.
This investment concerns the rehabilitation of structures and signalling modernisation on 167 km of an electrified single-track railway line between the port of Bar and the Serbian border at Vrbnica.
For these purposes, WBIF has allocated a grant for the preparation of the Main Design for the Podgorica Railway Station signalisation, an inspection of 96 concrete bridges along the railway line, and assistance provided to the project implementation unit (PIU) formed within the Railway Infrastructure Company of Montenegro.
