This WBIF technical assistance grant has funded the preparation of the Pre-feasibility study with the General Design for Route 7 in Serbia from Kosovo* (administrative crossing Merdare) to Doljevac via Kursumlija - Prokuplje bypass - Zitoradja. The purpose was to establish spatial, environmental, social, financial and economic justification for the investment and initiate the procedure for issuing the construction permit.
The road in question represents a connection of South East Europe Corridor IV with Corridor Xc (Nis-Bulgarian border) and an important part of Route 7 that connects Nis with Albania and the Adriatic/Ionian Sea and their ports. Route 7, in addition to Corridor Xc (Nis-Pirot-Dimitrovgrad-Bulgarian border), belongs to European road E-80, as classified in the European Agreement on Main International Traffic Arteries.
