The road network in Tirana is congested which causes major delays to private and public transport vehicles as well as significantly increased emissions. The traffic volume in the city centre registers significant levels.
The Tirana bypass will connect Kashar to Mullet via Vaqarr with the aim of reducing traffic congestion by providing a route for the transit traffic flows. Preliminary traffic analysis indicates that the bypass would accommodate 12,000-20,000 vehicles per day. It is expected that the total length of the bypass alignment will be 21.6 km
This WBIF technical assistance grant finances the preparation of the Detailed design, Environmental and Social Impact Assessment and Tender Documents for the construction of the bypass.
