Higher penetration rates and improved access to the internet are essential to enable a digital transition in the Albanian economy. The penetration rate of fixed broadband in Albania has reached 10%, the lowest in the region, with a coverage of only 30% of households and a significant urban-rural divide - 15% average in urban areas and 1% in rural areas.
Increased access to ICT would boost digital connectivity between Albania and other economies in the region and the EU, reduce the digital gap, and contribute to the region’s development.
Aiming to support the preparation of technical documentation required for the deployment of fixed broadband infrastructure, WBIF has financed the Feasibility Study with a Cost-Benefit Analysis for the development of broadband communication in Albania.
