Golubovci - Bar is a section of the 168 km single-track, standard-gauge and electrified Bar-Vrbnica railway. This section is the one with the highest utilisation on the Bijelo Polje - Bar railway line. It has the highest number of passengers (to Podgorica as a final destination, but also towards Nikšić). Furthermore, transport of goods is slightly higher than on the rest of the line.
The modernisation of the railway line Golubovci - Bar is one of the main priorities of the Montenegrin Transport Development Strategy for the period 2019-2035.
In 2019, WBIF allocated a TA grant to help develop and conclude the technical and operational, environmental and social, and regulatory documentation required for the forthcoming implementation of the investment. The activities covered by technical assistance refer primarily to the update of the Preliminary Designs (PD), the development of the Detailed Design (DD) and the Environmental and Social Impact Assessment (ESIA).
