This multiannual investment programme aims at the energy efficiency renovation of central government buildings (CGB) in Serbia as per Article 5 of the Energy Efficiency Directive (2012/27/EU). The programme encompasses the renovation of up to 28 buildings in Belgrade of a total of 208.000 m2 out of which 50% are classified as heritage buildings. The Palace of Serbia is the largest single building and comprises 26% of the foreseen area for renovation. The whole building is categorized as a cultural heritage and is subject to the highest level of protection.
The programme is expected to result in a minimum of 30% of primary energy consumption reduction, some 20% of CO2 reduction, improved working conditions, improved safety at work and approximately 29% savings in operating costs for energy. In addition, the investments should contribute to the protection and preservation of cultural heritage buildings.
This WBIF technical assistance grant finances the support to the project implementation unit (PIU) during the preparatory phases.
