Serbia, North Continental South East Corridor: Feasibility Study, ESIA

The North Continental South East Corridor is part of the electricity transmission route that links Serbia to Romania, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Croatia and Italy. The corridor will be integrated into the Trans-Balkan Electricity Corridor and it will increase electricity transit from East (Romania, Bulgaria, Ukraine, Moldova) to West (Croatia, Bosnia and Herzegovina).

This WBIF technical assistance grant supports the development of the Feasibility Study and Environmental and Social Impact Assessment (ESIA) for the development of the following North CSE components:

• Component 1: BeoGrid2025 (400/110 kV substation Belgrade West, with the alignment of the corresponding 400 kV and 110 kV lines and 2x400 kV OHL substation Belgrade West to switching station Čibuk 1 with the corresponding OHL bays);
• Component 2: Upgrade of the existing 400 kV OHL Serbia (switching station Đerdap 1) to Romania (Portile de Fier) to double-circuit OHL with the corresponding OHL bays;

This grant is a direct continuation of the support provided by WBIF for the preparation of a Pre-Feasibility Study with a Preliminary ESIA and Conceptual Design whose purpose was to determine the spatial, environmental, social and economic viability of the investments.
