Corridor V is one of ten Tran-European corridors in Central and Eastern Europe. Branch C goes from Budapest through Croatia and Bosnia and Herzegovina, to the port of Ploče on the Adriatic Sea. The sections Doboj - Maglaj (23.5 km double track) and Jelina - Zenica (9 km single track) belong to railway Corridor Vc in BiH and have been envisaged for the modernisation and rehabilitation.
WBIF has provided a technical assistance grant for the preparation of the Feasibility Study, Main Designs and draft Tender Documents for track overhaul, signalling and interlocking systems on these sections. The option chosen by the Feasibility Study has foreseen bringing the line back to its original design speed (80-100 km/h) and, where possible, to 120 km/h, without realignment. Rehabilitation works will include new tracks and switches in stations, bridges, culverts, slopes, signalling and interlocking mechanisms at stations and level crossings.
