Corridor VIII will connect the Black Sea with the Adriatic running through Bulgaria, North Macedonia and Albania. It is regionally significant by being one of the ten Pan-European transport corridors and belonging to the South East Europe Transport Observatory (SEETO) comprehensive network.
Railway Corridor VIII in North Macedonia has two missing links - one toward Albania and the other toward Bulgaria. The latter is, for development purposes, divided into three sections: Kumanovo-Beljakovce (31 km), Beljakovce-Kriva Palanka (34 km), and Kriva Palanka-Deve Bair (23 km).
This WBIF technical assistance grant has supported the development of the Detailed Design and assistance to tendering process for the section from Kumanovo to Beljakovce on the eastern link of Corridor VIII.
