Bosnia and Herzegovina's power sector has been dominated by the use of fossil fuels. For long-term energy conservation and environmental preservation, the identification of alternative sources of energy production has been deemed a priority.
The wind potential of BiH is significant, and the Vlasic region (Municipality Travnik, 1,100 - 1,700m altitude, approx. 50 MW estimated power capacity, approx. 120 GWh p.a.) has shown salient features during indicative measurements.
To examine the possibilities of the production of alternative energy from wind power in the Vlasic region, WBIF has provided a technical assistance grant for the preparation of a Feasibility Study, an Environmental Impact and Social Assessment and a Preliminary Design for a wind farm.
