Corridor VIII will connect the Black Sea with the Adriatic running through Bulgaria, North Macedonia and Albania. It is regionally significant by being one of the ten Pan-European transport corridors and belonging to the South East Europe Transport Observatory (SEETO) comprehensive network.
Railway Corridor VIII in North Macedonia has two missing links - one towards the Republic of Albania and the other towards the Republic of Bulgaria. The latter is, for development purposes, divided into three sections: Kumanovo - Beljakovce (31 km), Beljakovce - Kriva Palanka (34 km), and Kriva Palanka - Deve Bair (23 km).
WBIF has provided a grant for the supervision of works during the construction of the Kumanovo-Beljakovce section, as part of the eastern link of Corridor VIII.
