Bosnia and Herzegovina has great renewable energy potential. At the same time, only 40% of the country's economically and environmentally feasible hydropower potential has been developed.
Aiming to increase the production of energy from renewable resources, replace old and inefficient thermal facilities and contribute to reductions in CO2 emissions, BiH planned to construct a hydropower plant (HPP) at Babino Selo.
For this purpose, WBIF has allocated a €750,000 grant for the preparation of the feasibility study and the associated designs and environmental impact assessment to assess the viability of the investment from the economic, financial and environmental perspectives.
