The Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina (FBiH) suffers from poorly developed water and wastewater infrastructure with detrimental effects on public health and the environment. WBIF has helped remedy this situation with technical assistance focused on developing municipality-level water and/or wastewater systems.
Nineteen (19) municipalities across the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina benefited from the assistance: Bosansko Grahovo, Bosanska Krupa, Bosanski Petrovac, Čitluk, Doboj Jug, Glamoč, Gračanica, Jajce, Konjic, Kupres, Lukavac, Mostar, Orašje, Prozor-Rama, Široki Brijeg, Tešanj, Tomislavgrad, Usora and Velika Kladuša.
Technical assistance was focused on supporting the PMU in project management and reporting, coordination with complementary projects, preparation of technical documentation and tenders, and the overall implementation of planned investments through on-the-job training.
The objective of the investments is to protect public health and the environment from water pollution while maintaining a balanced development of water supply and sanitation and safeguarding the financial and operational viability of the water companies.
